The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, said that this collaboration was carried out to jointly address the problem of waste management.

Jakarta produces 9,000 tons of waste daily. Through changes to the Jakarta Provincial Government's waste management and sorting system, the amount of waste sent to Bantargebang has been reduced by around 500 tons per day.
Meanwhile, Jakarta's waste will be processed at modern waste management facilities at the Rorotan Waste Disposal Facility (RDF) and the Bantargebang Waste Disposal Facility (RDF), which have a capacity of between 1,500 and 2,000 tons. Furthermore, the Jakarta Provincial Government will build three waste-to-energy plants.
"If all goes well, the waste balance will be the same as in Bekasi. Hopefully, it will be zero by 2028," he added.
Regarding waste management in Bantargebang, Pramono stated that this would be discussed with the central government. The Governor believes the waste problem can be resolved through various efforts, including the 3R waste disposal site (TPS) and optimizing the reduction, reuse, and recycling of waste from hotels, restaurants, and cafes.
"Once again, Mr. Mayor and all staff, I express my gratitude for the smooth discussions, which were not lacking in anything. And I hope this is a good start, including for our cooperation over the next five years," he continued.
In this collaboration, the Jakarta Provincial Government will allocate compensation funds for the management of the Bantargebang landfill for the next five years of around Rp 362 billion.
Pramono explained that this amount was calculated based on a formula that takes into account the volume of waste, the number of days in a year, the levy rate of Rp 25,000 per cubic meter, a conversion factor of 4.5, and a 120 percent adjustment.
"For the Bantargebang Landfill 2027 management compensation fund, the calculation uses the formula," Pramono said.
Meanwhile, Bekasi Mayor, Tri Adhianto Tjahyono welcomed the collaboration between the two regional governments. He stated that waste management can no longer be considered a separate matter for each region.
"This collaboration and synergy between the two regions, of course, share common interests. How can we both view the waste problem as a shared problem that is a burden for each of us," he stated.
Tri also appreciated the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts in managing waste, one of which was by building RDF in Bantargebang and implementing a waste sorting system to reduce the amount of waste in Bantargebang.
He hopes that the Jakarta Provincial Government and Bekasi City Government will work together to address the problem of waste accumulation in Bantargebang through technological studies.
"We hope that what we have achieved today will provide beneficial value and prosperity for the two regions, for the Jakarta Government and also for the residents of Bekasi City," he hoped.
